BOSTON, Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Seniorlink, Inc., a leading tech-enabled health services company, is pleased to announce that Jennifer Trowbridge, State Director for its Caregiver Homes Program in Indiana, will be speaking at the 2018 National PACE Association (NPA) Annual Conference taking place October 21-24 in Portland, Oregon. The NPA Conference is the premier educational event for Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) nationwide, and brings together a diverse audience of administrative, regulatory, and clinical staff.

Trowbridge will discuss the value of family caregivers and the impact they can have in providing cost-effective care for elders as part of the "Lessons Learned on Activating Family Caregivers in PACE" educational session. The session, which takes place on October 23rd at 10:00 a.m., will also include Joan Kwiatkowski, CEO of CareLink and PACE of Rhode Island, and Susan Waschevski, Director of PACE at Franciscan Alliance Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"NPA, in partnership with Vital Research, conducted research utilizing the Zarit Burden survey tool, and found dramatic improvements for families enrolled in PACE programs," said Trowbridge. "More than 58 percent of those who rated their caregiver burden as moderate-to-high experienced less burden after enrolling in PACE. With 44 million family caregivers in the U.S. helping seniors age at home, we must make it a priority to relieve their physical and emotional stress so that they can care for their loved ones with confidence."

PACE is an innovative Medicare and Medicaid program that helps people age 55 and over who qualify for institutional-level of care meet their needs in their own home. By remaining at home, the individuals enjoy a higher quality of life, remain connected to the community, and receive care in a more cost-effective way.

PACE is an interdisciplinary model of care that customizes caregiving plans for enrollees and their families, providing respite care and caregiver training and support. The National PACE Association advances the efforts of PACE programs by providing resources and education; supporting research; collecting and analyzing benchmarking data; and advocating at state and federal levels for changes that benefit seniors. PACE programs coordinate and provide all needed preventive, primary, acute, and long-term care services through healthcare plans and providers so that seniors can continue living at home. Seniorlink partners with PACE programs to help provide additional caregiver support and training in an effort to help reduce burden and positively impact outcomes.
