NC4 Street Smart™ chosen to help in preventing and solving crimes in Flint, Michigan
New software to aid Flint Police Department in their crime-fighting efforts

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- NC4, a leader in revolutionizing safety and security and an innovator in public safety and emergency management solutions, is excited to announce that the Flint Police Department (FPD) has chosen NC4 Street Smart™ to help track crime and enhance the safety and security of people who live, work, and visit the city of Flint.

Flint is the largest city and the county seat of Genesee County, Michigan. With a population of 99,750, it is the seventh largest city in Michigan. With an authorized strength of 108 sworn, the FPD is challenged to do more with less and NC4 Street Smart is designed to help officers work more efficiently.

"The ability to give officers real-time data is crucial to preventing and solving crime. NC4 Street Smart will be a great proactive tool in helping us in our crime-fighting efforts," said James Tolbert, Chief of Police.

NC4 Street Smart was paid for with funds from the Flint Police Foundation who received a grant from the Ruth Mott Foundation whose mission is to advocate, stimulate, and support community vitality in its home community of Flint, MI.

"Speaking on behalf of the Flint Police Foundation Board of Directors, I can tell you how proud and honored we are to be working with NC4, a state-of-the-art company, providing the needed computer software for the men and women officers who lay their lives on the line every day to protect and serve us in the city of Flint," said J. Dallas Winegarden, Chairman of the Police Foundation Board and prior Prosecuting Attorney. "Their software will make a huge difference in crime-fighting in Flint."

The NC4 Street Smart solution focuses on improving information technology available to officers in the field for real-time data sharing, meaning officers will have the ability to communicate on crime issues from their vehicle while still on scene. This information is then cross referenced with archival information to better identify crime patterns and hot spots. This ability is paramount and could be the difference between a continued crime spree and the arrest of an individual. The cities that have been using NC4 Street Smart report notable reductions in crime and decreases from the time of an incident to the time of arrest. In addition, the solution is credited with providing officers with critical information, resulting in improved officer safety.

"We are thrilled to support the Flint Police Department by providing their commanders and field personnel with a solution that we believe will enable them to fight crime more efficiently. No one wants burglars, robbers and criminals in their communities and NC4 Street Smart will help officers identify and manage offenders who wish to do harm to our communities," said Rob Wolf, VP Public Safety, NC4. "This solution will help officers in Flint address crime more proactively and help improve public safety in the community."

NC4 will be showcasing NC4 Street Smart at the 2016 LEIM (Law Enforcement Information Management) Conference from May 23 – 25 in Dallas, TX. Stop by Booth #204 to learn about NC4 Street Smart's successes and the reasons that others have selected NC4 solutions.
