Amazon Web Services' Emerging Tech and Cybersecurity Expert, Merritt Baer, to Keynote Event

Targeted to government, public safety, transportation, utilities and enterprises, IWCE's five-day conference offers Workshops, Power Sessions, Short Courses, Special Events, Keynote Addresses, and Town Hall Meetings. Keynote Presenter
Emerging tech and cybersecurity expert, Merritt Baer, Principal Security Architect for Global Accounts, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will present the keynote address on Wednesday, March 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Baer provides strategic cloud security guidance to complex, regulated organizations such as the Fortune 200. Additionally, she advises the leadership of AWS' largest customers on security as a bottom line proposition. Baer has experience in all three branches of government and the private sector. Most recently, she served as Lead Cyber Advisor to the Federal Communications Commission. She has also served at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Office of U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Before joining the government, Baer started a business advisory/legal practice, working with emerging tech companies. She speaks regularly on cybersecurity, including the future of the Internet, artificial intelligence and robots, current cybersecurity issues in 5G, cloud, mobile, IoT and ICS, corporate interactions with government cyber, diversity in tech, entrepreneurism and innovation.

Education
On Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5, IWCE will host 29 three-hour and two full-day Workshops interspersed with 45-minute Power Sessions. On Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7 Short Courses offer a flexible way to take part in the conference program, while allowing attendees time to attend the Exhibit Hall. In addition, IWCE will host two special-focus educational sessions:

  • Women of Wireless Workshop: Taking place on International Women's Day, Friday, March 8 at 8:15 a.m., this workshop will include a series of presentations about successful habits of effective women leaders, the successes and challenges of being at the table as "pioneers" and how women in tech is timely and relevant.
  • The Changing Workforce: Finding Workers, Attracting Millennials: Taking place on Thursday, March 7 at 10:15 a.m. will provide attendees with an understanding of how to attract younger workers.

IWCE will offer a series of free-to-attend Town Hall Meetings on Tuesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 7. Government and association partners will present their latest initiatives. Participating organizations include Department of Homeland Security, NPSTC, Innovate Vegas and National Wireless Safety Alliance. Additionally, various communications technology topics will be presented in Spanish through IWCE en Español.

IWCE's Job Training and Education Center
IWCE's Job Training and Education Center is for both new graduates looking for employment and professionals interested in expanding skill sets in their current employment. IWCE's partners will be available to discuss job training, continuing education and career planning.

IWCE's Network Infrastructure Forum
Again in 2019, IWCE will be co-located with IWCE's Network Infrastructure Forum, which will feature a dedicated area on the show floor and five days of conference sessions. As the line is blurring between LMR and non-consumer cellular/LTE, more reliable connectivity is necessary for outdoor, indoor, deployable networks, small cells, smart cities and the Internet of Things. From the tower and antenna to the individual to machines, IWCE's Network Infrastructure Forum provides the understanding, products and services to assure that a network is always connected, always on. Several of the conference sessions include: Opportunities and Challenges on the Road to 5G from an Infrastructure Perspective; Solving the Problem of In-Building Connectivity and The Smart City Promise - Building Privacy and Control in the Infrastructure.

ETA International Education Forum
For the sixth year in a row, ETA International will co-locate their Annual Education Forum at IWCE. Training and certification will be offered in eleven technology areas, including: 5G Technician: An Introduction to 5G; Associate Certified Electronics Technician; Communications Site Installer (R56) Training; Cybersecurity and Information Technology Specialist Training; DAS and BDA Design, Installation and Maintenance; General Communications Technician Training, Level 1; Line and Antenna Sweep; Microwave Fundamentals; PIM Testing Training; Radio Frequency Interference Mitigation; and Smart Buildings Technologies.
