SANS to Host Final Cyber Security Training Event of 2018 in Washington, D.C.
More than 40 Cyber Security Courses and 10 Bonus Evening Talks Offered

BETHESDA, Md., Sept. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training, today announced the final opportunity to attend its cyber security training for 2018. SANS Cyber Defense Initiative 2018 (#SANSCDI) will take place December 11-18 in Washington, D.C. Hands-on immersion-style courses and bonus evening talks will offer valuable insight into the tools and techniques necessary to fend off the most complex cyber security threats. Included among the evening talks is a keynote discussion by SANS Faculty Fellow, Eric Conrad (@eric_conrad) entitled The Perimeter is Dead: Deploying a Defensible Security Architecture.

According to Conrad, "Mobile, cloud, and the Internet of Things have changed the security landscape. In this new world of de-perimeterization the old boundaries of inside and outside, trusted and untrusted no longer apply. To be effective against today's adversaries, security professionals must readjust how they think. Join me at SANS Cyber Defense Initiative where I will discuss the fundamentals of up-to-date defensible security architecture, including the zero-trust model. I will also share how to leverage current infrastructure (and investment) and newer technologies to build a more robust security infrastructure."

In addition to this keynote talk, Conrad will also co-teach the new SEC530: Defensible Security Architecture course. This course dovetails nicely with his evening talk and offers hands-on labs and actionable skills that students will be able to leverage as soon as they return to work.
