Long Beach Comic Expo Announces First Round Of Guests At The 8th Annual Event

LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Long Beach Comic Expo (www.longbeachcomicexpo.com) is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators and creators of all kinds in pop culture. The 8th annual Long Beach Comic Expo takes place February 17 & 18, 2018 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California.

2018 guest announcements include:

Mark Waid: an Eisner Award-winning comic book writer, known for his work on titles for DC Comics such as The Flash, Kingdom Come, and Superman: Birthright, and for his work on Captain America, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil for Marvel Comics.

Marv Wolfman: a comic book writer best known for co-creating Cyborg (seen in the Justice League movie) and Blade, as well his work on DC Comics' The New Teen Titans, Crisis on Infinite Earths, and many other comic books, prose, and video game titles.

Arthur Suydam: a comic book artist who has done artwork for magazines including Heavy Metal, Epic Illustrated, and National Lampoon, while his comic book work includes Batman, Conan, Tarzan, Predator, Aliens, Death Dealer, and Marvel Zombies.

In addition to the guest announcements above, Tori Gedvillas, Dean Haspiel, David Gallaher, Steve Ellis, Neo Edmund, Dan Mendoza, Patrick Owsley, and Frank Tieri along with many others are expected to be in attendance.

The expo will feature more than 150 exhibitors, including comic book dealers, 100+ creators in the Artist Alley and the popular Cosplay Corner and cosplay contest sponsored by Bernina USA.

In addition, LBCE holds many entertaining and informative panels from guest speakers covering topics ranging from comics to animation and movies plus an interactive and educational Space Expo by The Columbia Memorial Space Center along with an array of films by GeekFest Film Festival. 

Also slated to return is the fourth annual Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics, awarded to creators and content that reflect diversity. More than 100 titles were submitted this year for consideration, nearly triple the amount submitted last year. Submissions are open until December 31st and the winner will be announced on February 17th.
