HTii to advise global DOORS software community from IBM conference

LEXINGTON PARK, Md., Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Defense contractor HTii will provide expert advice to the global community of IBM DOORS and DOORS Next Generation software users November 17 via a live video webinar from an international IBM conference in Long Beach, California.

The webinar will feature HTii data architect Adam Hammett and a panel of IBM and industry experts answering questions from conference attendees and online participants around the world. It will take place Thursday, November 17, at 9:00 am Pacific time. Registration is at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8382745197377329154.

Hammett also will give a separate, solo presentation earlier in the conference on DOORS Next Generation.

The events are part of IBM's Continuous Engineering for the Internet of Things Summit 2016 on the historic Queen Mary ocean liner, now a dockside conference center at the Long Beach pier.

A wide range of industries use IBM DOORS applications to manage requirements for large, complex projects, such as the development of new software, pharmaceuticals and military weapons. The legacy DOORS application is a standalone product installed on individual computers or servers. The newer DOORS Next Generation is an online version that is part of IBM's Jazz lifecycle project management suite of applications.

"Both are enormously powerful," Hammett said, "but two similar but different products raise questions for many users - which one to use, should they use both, or if they want to switch, how do they migrate from DOORS to DOORS NG?"

The panel and webinar Hammett is appearing on, "Sharing Successes & Solving Problems," will answer as many of these questions as possible during its scheduled three-hour period, he said.

"This is not a presentation or slide show," he said. "It's one long Q&A session."

His solo presentation November 16 at 1:40-2:15 Pacific time will cover new configuration management options in the latest release of DOORS NG, version 6.x.

"Configuration management in DOORS NG means keeping track of changes made by many technical experts working simultaneously on different versions of the same basic set of requirements," he said.

Hammett will explore several DOORS NG functions, including global configurations, baselines, change sets and streams, along with best practices for planning and implementing configuration management.
