IDWeek is the combined annual meeting of the IDSA, SHEA, HIVMA and PIDS, where infectious disease professionals are able to meet, share experiences and collaborate for the improvement of patient care and public health. Geared toward health care professionals in infectious diseases and healthcare epidemiology and prevention, the conference is critical for those who want to stay current in the latest trends and technologies for excellence in patient care.

"Tru-D is the only UV disinfection device validated by a device- and method-specific randomized clinical trial that was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention," said Chuck Dunn, CEO and President of Tru-D SmartUVC. "Results proved that enhanced terminal room disinfection strategies decreased the cumulative incidences of multidrug-resistant organisms by up to 30 percent, and the largest decreases were seen when Tru-D was added to the standard cleaning protocols."

Tru-D was the only device of its kind selected for the first-ever, randomized clinical trial on UVC disinfection because of its Sensor360 technology that precisely measures the proper UV dose needed for every room, eliminating any chance for human error in the disinfection process. The CDC-funded Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room Disinfection (BETR-D) study was conducted throughout nine hospitals by the Duke Infection Control Outreach Network. Analyzing more than 122,000 exposure days and nearly 25,000 patients, the 28-month study is the most comprehensive UV disinfection study to date. Presented in abstract form at IDWeek 2015, the study is currently undergoing peer-review and will be published in the near future. Dr. Anderson, one of the lead BETR-D researchers will be speaking at IDWeek Friday, October 28 from 2:30-3:00pm on Mists, Rays and Robots.

An automated no-touch disinfection robot, Tru-D is brought into a room after the EVS staff cleans using traditional methods. Tru-D then operates from a single position and administers a single cycle of UVC light, destroying up to 99.9 percent of harmful pathogens that can remain behind such as C. diff, MRSA, MERS, VRE, Ebola and many more. Validated by more than a dozen, independent, third-party studies to eliminate pathogens in health care environments, Tru-D is on a mission to provide cleaner and safer hospital environments for patients and staff.

Tru-D invites attendees to its booth #723 to learn more about how it reduces infections and improves patient outcomes. For more information, visit Tru-D.com.
