CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobility Ventures today revealed updates for its next generation 2017 MV-1, the first and only American-made vehicle designed and manufactured specifically for wheelchair users.  The updated features, announced in conjunction with the American Public Transportation Association Bus and Paratransit conference, in Charlotte, N.C., extend the industry leading purpose-built, wheelchair-accessible vehicle's convenience and utility for individual consumers, commercial customers and government fleets.

The next generation 2017 MV-1, expands on key features of the 2016 model, including a power passenger door, operated by a remote keyless fob and innovative, side-entry power ramp. The 2017 model adds:

  • Power liftgate: Operated by a remote keyless fob, the liftgate makes it easier and more convenient for paratransit, taxi and individual owners to load cargo into the rear of the vehicle.
  • LED headlamps: These headlamps emit a brighter, white light for improved visibility, use up to 80 percent less power and last longer than traditional headlamps
  • Touch screen radio will have an improved user interface

With more than 80 dealerships in the North American MV-1 network, Mobility Ventures LLC is expanding transportation choices for transit and taxi fleets, as well as families. Today, nearly 4,000 MV-1s are in service around the country.

"The MV-1 is the only wheelchair-accessible vehicle designed from the ground up to meet the needs of people who use wheelchairs and our 2017 model year enhancements continue to reflect their input," said Pat Kemp, Mobility Ventures Executive Vice President.

The 2016 MV-1 is currently available in two models.

  • The SE model provides a cost-effective solution for transit fleets along with unrivaled durability.
  • The DX model features a two-stage power ramp that is easily deployed with the touch of a button.

Financing options through various established lenders are available for the MV-1 (http://www.mv-1.us/financing-information). In addition, some buyers may be eligible for special grants that help defray the cost of the vehicle.
