Freudenberg Helps Oil and Gas Customers Drill Deeper with Advanced Sealing Solutions and Services
Global sealing expert to showcase oil and gas applications at booth #2923 at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston from May 2 - 5

WEINHEIM, Germany, May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- From Angola to the Bahamas and from the Canary Islands to the North Sea, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has helped its oil and gas customers perform their drilling operations safely in a variety of environments for years. Now, as those drilling operations move further offshore, the company is developing more robust sealing applications and expanded services to assist with these new environments.

"As our customers move into higher pressure environments found further offshore, they're facing new challenges, especially concerning the increasing pressure put on the accumulators within their drilling systems," said Mark S. West, product marketing, Accumulator Industry at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies. "As an innovative partner to our customers, we're developing improved sealing designs and systems to help them perform at the higher pressures being encountered."

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has decades of experience in the development and production of hydraulic accumulators for a variety of applications, especially with the Automotive Industry. With the company's acquisition of North American accumulator manufacturer Tobul Accumulator Inc. in 2014, Freudenberg has strengthened its technological expertise and further expanded its product range to special industry segments like oil and gas and agriculture.

Additionally, the company now offers global offshore, on-the-rig service and in-plant accumulator servicing by trained service engineers.

With this increased accumulator expertise a number of product advancements will be discussed at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), including:

  • High-pressure accumulator – developed to operate at pressures up to 40,000 psi, this updated accumulator design includes an improved sealing system to allow the accumulator to perform better with longer service life at the higher pressures found deeper on the ocean floor.
  • Subsea Accumulator Monitoring – developed to enable customers to remotely monitor various aspects of the accumulator system to indicate how the system is performing and what might be periodically considered for maintenance.
  • Portfolio of application-specific accumulators – including stainless steel piston accumulators, bladder-type and diaphragm-type accumulators, and customizable piston accumulators for specific applications, dependent on customer needs.

While still in the development stage, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies is working on a robust, redundant charging system to better meet the needs of its oil and gas customers while enhancing the service life of the application. "We're confident that Freudenberg Sealing Technologies can help keep our customers' systems performing as safely and efficiently as possible," said West.
