• The "Internet of Things and M2M Primer" session, part of IWCE's College of Technology, will take place on March 21 at 2:30 p.m. Whether you call it machine-to-machine (M2M), Connected Devices, the Industrial Internet, IoT or the Networked Society, it is hard to deny that more and more "things" are being connected every day. This session explores the industries, equipment and technology being connected – from healthcare to manufacturing to the home – and will examine connectivity, device management, the massive amount of data generated, the analytics involved, as well as the privacy, policy and security considerations.
• The "Can the Internet of Things Save the World?" session, part of IWCE's Short Courses, will take place March 24 at 3:30 p.m. IoT has been around for a long time through M2M communications, but today's IoT is more like M2M on steroids. IoT sounds like a panacea to all our technology woes, but it also comes with serious concerns. This session will provide attendees with a toolkit of best practices for the many aspects of IoT. Key topics include security, reliability, access and authentication, scalability, data analytics, new devices, system upgrades and the technology for this brave new world.
