Science@OC and UBM's Advanced Manufacturing Event in Anaheim Partner for Third Year to Promote Middle School Science Education

SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Science@OC and UBM Americas will again partner at the nation's most comprehensive Advanced Manufacturing expo and conference at the Anaheim Convention Center to introduce middle school science teachers to advanced manufacturing business leaders and engineers.

Science@OC and UBM's Advanced Manufacturing Event in Anaheim Partner for Third Year to Promote Middle School Science Education

The collaboration is designed to help middle school educators better understand the quality and array of career opportunities available to students who have the math and science skills required by Orange County manufacturers. The program is a part of a long-term approach to address a chronic challenge faced by local high technology companies: finding qualified workers.

"This is our third year of collaboration, thanks to a generous UBM grant that gives teachers and students the opportunity to see advanced manufacturing products up close, with company leaders and engineers on hand to talk about the career opportunities that are possible with a solid STEM education," said Sue Neuen, Science@OC's executive director.

As part of the collaborative program, approximately 30 middle school teachers will participate in guided tours of the exhibit hall and will meet a number of the exhibitors for discussions on ways to effectively bring information on advanced manufacturing and technology into the classroom.

Scheduled for February 9-11, the most comprehensive design and manufacturing exhibition and professional development conference in the US is an ideal location to provide the connection between educators and manufacturers. The event attracts more than 22,000 industry professionals, and includes more than 2,200 exhibits of equipment, products and services in manufacturing, packaging, design, 3D printing, software, robotics, plastics and factory automation. It serves medical device, food processing, chemical, electronics, cosmetics, aerospace/aviation and many other industries located in Southern California.

Admission to the expo hall is free for qualified manufacturing industry professionals.  Registration and additional information about the trade show can be found at: ubm.io/anaheim2016.
