Adaptiva Survey Finds Enterprises Adopting Windows 10 Faster than Any Previous Microsoft Operating System
63% of Organizations Planning Significant Windows 10 Deployments in 2016

SEATTLE, Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Adaptiva, a leading, global provider of IT systems management solutions for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, today released insights from its 2016 IT Impact Survey Report: Windows 10 & ConfigMgr. The survey of over 100 IT professionals from large organizations revealed higher than anticipated momentum for the adoption of Windows 10, with 63% of respondents expecting to run Windows 10 on a significant number of systems this year. Of those IT departments that piloted Windows 10, nearly half (40%) have now deployed it on 50% or more of their systems, indicating strong confidence levels and unprecedented adoption of the new operating system.

The movement to Windows 10 en masse is fueling high demand for the new version of Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr), software used to distribute and update operating systems and other software. Roughly two-thirds (65%) of those moving to the new ConfigMgr released in December cited deployment, updating, and management of Windows 10 as their biggest motivators for upgrading. Similarly, nearly all companies (86%) cited access to Windows 10 service branch updates, a capability that soon will be discontinued in ConfigMgr 2012, as an important factor in their decision to upgrade.

Microsoft expedited the move to end support for Windows 8 and announced this month that it will no longer release security patches for the new operating system. This surprising announcement coupled with the company's plans to release new versions of ConfigMgr and Windows 10 several times a year moving forward increases the sense of urgency for IT departments to move to Windows 10.

While Adaptiva's survey indicates that businesses are rapidly adopting Windows 10 and ConfigMgr in 2016, it also revealed concerns about the time involved with managing the quick timeline for these new deployments and frequent updates required to keep up. The majority of survey respondents (57%) said the anticipated time it will take to deploy the new version of ConfigMgr is posing the biggest barrier to adoption. Two-thirds (66%) of survey respondents expressed post-deployment fears that frequent updates of incremental Microsoft releases would increase workloads and slow operations.

"The survey results underscore the surge in Windows 10 interest we are seeing from enterprises as well as the concerns they have about keeping pace with the frequent updates," said Jim Souders, chief operating officer at Adaptiva. "The new Microsoft ConfigMgr and Windows 10 releases are ushering in a need for a more automated, intelligent approach to systems management that reduces the time and complexity necessary to keep software and systems secure and up to date."

Adaptiva's solution is based on the world's first smart scaling systems management technology.
