New Exhibitors Expected to Attract Large and Small Retailers to Tupelo Furniture Market

TUPELO, Miss., Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- According to Tupelo Furniture Market show officials, the number of new companies showing at their furniture event has increased steadily.  In just the last year alone many new companies have contracted to show at the Tupelo event and the number is expected to grow further before the next furniture market slated for February 25-28.

"It seems the economy has finally stabilized and has had sustained growth," said Kevin J. Seddon, president of the Tupelo Furniture Market.  "As a result, the housing and furniture industries have had a similar experience.  This affects our market in that more manufacturers are coming back to Tupelo or showcasing here for the first time so they can sell their products to retailers that only shop in Tupelo."

In the last two years, Tupelo has sold exhibit space to close to 200 new companies that have not shown in Tupelo before, or at least not in many years.  The net increase has been substantial.

"We have had great success in the last six months alone," explained Seddon.  "United Furniture Industries, one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the country, signed a long-term agreement and is planning on expanding into another showroom, and another 20 companies have also contracted with us in just the last months.  Well-known industry brands including John Richard, Pelican Reef/Panama Jack and Mayo Furniture have also chosen Tupelo, indicating that Tupelo is more than just a promotional furniture event."

According to Seddon, Tupelo is experiencing growth in almost every sector of the furniture industry.  He explained that the number of bedding manufacturers has grown substantially with more than 40 bedding companies expected to exhibit in February.  He also noted growth in the rustic furniture sector and explained that the companies showcasing product now offer products that represent mid- and high-end price ranges.

"For many years Tupelo was known as a venue primarily for companies showing lower-priced products with great value and that's still the case," said Seddon.  "However, now we have found that many companies showing in Tupelo are having great success selling higher priced items, including leather, designer and hand-crafted furniture.  Companies that sell higher-priced brands such as Pelican Reef/Panama Jack or designer brands such as John Richard, Harden and DoveTail are now drawing designers and new retailers to the market."

Some of the industry leading companies that have added Tupelo to their trade show schedules include Outdoor Great Room, Artopia, Forever Green Art, Arason Cabinet Beds, Graphic Visions, Rustic Log Furniture, Wildwoods, Green Sky Credit, Mountain Woods Furniture, Null Furniture, Wellborn Industries, Artistic Teak Traders, LLC, Boyd Specialty Sleep, Simmons Bedding, Tempoe, MLily Mississippi, BedVoyage, Nationwide Furniture Distributors, 7th Avenue, Tidewater Finance Co., Cozy Earth and many more.

The more than 2 million square feet of exhibit space for the upcoming Tupelo Market is selling quickly; however, space is still available for the spring, February 25-28, 2016 event.  Companies interested in securing remaining space to exhibit should call 800.844.0841.  For more information on exhibiting or to register to attend as a furniture retailer or designer, go to www.tupelofurnituremarket.com.
