Forensic Expert, Heather Mahalik, to Keynote SANS' Philadelphia Cybersecurity Training Event
Offers Insight into How to Successfully Examine Digital Media

BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training today announced forensic expert, Heather Mahalik, will deliver the keynote address at SANS Philadelphia 2016 taking place February 29March 5, 2016. Mahalik will provide insight into the discipline of converged forensics which addresses the ever-evolving digital landscape and the need for examiners to leverage multiple skills to successfully examine digital evidence.

"In today's digital environment, tunnel vision will limit a forensic examiner's success. Multiple skills are needed to hunt and uncover evidence," said Mahalik. "Network forensics, memory forensics, malware detection, malware analysis and data synchronization between smartphones, Mac and Windows computers may change the way examiners look at evidence. This change in approach may also change an examiner's success rate when examining digital media."

Along with Mahalik's keynote address, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the FOR408: Windows Forensic Analysis course that she will be teaching. Mahalik will share how to recover, analyze, and authenticate forensic data on Windows systems.

SANS Philadelphia offers hands-on, immersion-style security training courses that tackle today's toughest security challenges. For example, the SEC511: Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations course addresses the fact that organizations will be breached. Because it is not a matter of if but when an organization falls victim to an attack, timely incident detection is essential. This course will arm attendees with the skills they need to detect a breach early on so that damage is mitigated.

SANS Philadelphia, located at the Sonesta, is within walking distance to many of the city's great restaurants and shopping destinations and a short cab ride to museums and historic attractions including The Liberty Bell.
