Datameer Bolsters Enterprise Efforts With Expanded Big Data Ecosystem Support
New Spark Connector Released; Advanced Governance Module and Integration with Microsoft HDInsight Now Available

SAN FRANCISCO and SINGAPORE, Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of winning Frost & Sullivan's 2015 Growth Leadership Award for Global Big Data Analytics, Datameer today announced multiple product enhancements that further deepen its support of the big data ecosystem and underline its commitment to enterprise-grade big data initiatives at the Strata + Hadoop World Singapore Conference. Datameer Enterprise is now generally available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace via Microsoft HDInsight to provide a cloud-based onramp for organizations looking to rapidly deploy big data analytics.

"Hadoop is a constantly evolving ecosystem, so we purposely created an open architecture that allows us the flexibility to always provide businesses with the best future-proof technologies and capabilities," said Stefan Groschupf, CEO of Datameer. "We want businesses to focus on getting to the fastest time to insight and implementing business value rather than on the technical details."

Deeper Integrations With Larger Big Data Ecosystem; New Spark Connector

The Hadoop ecosystem includes a wide range of source systems and technology distributions across the enterprise. The new release from Datameer adds native support for Amazon Redshift and updated support for leading Hadoop distributions including Cloudera Enterprise 5.4, IBM BigInsights V4 and MapR 4.1 and 5.

Additionally, enterprises are increasingly drawn to private cloud deployments of OpenStack to maximize datacenter resources and view OpenStack Object Store ("Swift") as a vital component of their data lake architecture. In response, Datameer can now connect to the Swift File System so organizations can access and analyze cloud infrastructure information for operational analytics applications.

A new Spark connector allows customers to leverage flexible in-memory data processing for batch, real-time and advanced analytics. For example, using the new connector, a business analyst could use the results of a machine learning job from Spark as a source in a Datameer application, or use a Datameer-processed dataset as an input for a Spark job.

"Our partnership with Datameer has always been premised on providing the fastest time to insight, with minimum hassle, for our customers," said Tim Stevens, vice president, Business and Corporate Development at Cloudera. "Datameer and Cloudera engineering teams have worked closely to ensure innovation on Spark. Datameer's Spark Connector and Cloudera's Spark efforts, through the One Platform Initiative, are examples of how we are enabling our customers to adopt innovative big data technology and maintain a familiar, productive platform."

Now available, Datameer's advanced data governance module gives businesses complete transparency into their data pipelines, and can provide IT with the appropriate tools to audit diligently for compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

New features around quality and consistency, data policies and standards, data security and privacy, regulatory compliance, and retention and archiving ensure enterprise-grade data integrity and regulatory compliance with regulations such as BCBS 239/RDARR, Volcker, HIPAA and others.

Microsoft Azure Marketplace Availability
