Geneia CEO Keynotes National Business Coalition on Health Annual Conference

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Geneia, a company of experienced change agents creating analytic and technology solutions to improve healthcare, today announced that CEO Mark Caron will keynote the National Business Coalition on Health Annual Conference.  In his address, The Aim of Big Data-Turning Action, Insights and Meaning into Value, Caron will talk about how the proliferation of data – from sources such as health plan benefits, claims, utilization, hospital admissions, labs, pharmacy, wearable devices, social networks, connected homes and cars, and more – has created an acute need for analytics platforms to convert the information to usable insights.

"The explosion of health data is simultaneously exciting and challenging," said Mark Caron, CHCIO, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer of Geneia. "For the first time, the data to create a comprehensive, 360-degree view of each patient and subsequently develop a personalized, long-term care plan is available. Yet data without insights is worthless. That's why it is vital that all of those engaged in the patient's health – physicians, hospitals, health plans, and even employers - have an advanced analytics platform to convert all of this data into a format that is readily consumable and actionable."

Employers, for example, can use Geneia's advanced analytics platform to determine the number of employees who:

  • are currently admitted to the hospital;
  • visited the emergency department in the past year, but have not seen their primary care physician; and
  • are eligible to switch from a brand name prescription to a generic version.

Geneia recently published a case study that illustrates the range of actionable information available to employers.  To view the case study, visit http://bit.ly/geneiacasestudy.

The National Business Coalition on Health Annual Conference brings together employers, business and health coalitions, health plans, providers, and other stakeholders to discuss the future of healthcare and benefits, and takes place November 16-18, 2015 in Dallas.
