Jim Prokopanko Receives the 2015 Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award
Mosaic's former Chief Executive tops Corporate Responsibility Magazine's list of responsible corporate leaders

NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Corporate Responsibility Magazine and the COMMIT!Forum are pleased to announce that Jim Prokopanko, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Mosaic, one of the world's leading producers and marketers of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients, has been named the 2015 Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

Mr. Prokopanko accepted his award at the 2015 Corporate Responsibility Magazine Responsible CEO of the Year Awards Dinner.  Corporate Responsibility Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Awards recognize individuals whose risk-taking, vision and pioneering spirit have led to significant achievements in the CSR field over the course of their careers.

"Jim Prokopanko's career at Mosaic for the last decade and his prior executive positions were all dedicated to creating company cultures that promoted corporate citizenship, responsibility and sustainability," said Elliot Clark, CEO of Corporate Responsibility Magazine. "We are proud to announce that this year's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to a leader like Jim, who served the world's largest fertilizer company with a dedicated sense of responsibility."

Under Mr. Prokopanko's direction for the last 10 years, Mosaic has created many initiatives and integrated corporate social responsibility with a diverse portfolio of partnerships, including community investment, sustainable agriculture, global food security and nutrient stewardship. He has been instrumental in bringing Mosaic's goals to life by creating the standardized and branded framework for the organization's four foundational pillars of success: integrity, excellence, sustainability and connectivity.

The Mosaic Company is recognized as one of the greenest companies in the U.S. by Newsweek for its corporate sustainability and environmental responsibility efforts in 2014 and 2015.

Some of the programs that are making the greatest impact include Mosaic Villages Project, a cross-climatic, cross-geographic program with implementing partners that helps smallholder farmers pull their families from poverty by learning the best agronomic practices and increasing yields three to five times over traditional farming methods; 4R Nutrient Stewardship framework to achieve the agricultural benefits of fertilizer and reduce crop nutrient loss to the environment; The Mosaic Company Foundation and The Mosaic Institute in Brazil which invests 1 percent of its profits on a three-year rolling average to help fund food, water and local community partners and initiatives. Other goals include targeting to reduce freshwater use, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions by 10 percent by 2020.

The Mosaic Company has been recognized two years in a row by CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) Carbon as a leader among Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500) companies for its actions to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the business risks of climate change.
